Ten days between the Ganga and the Himalaya
A small group living the practice rather than reading about it. Sunrise yoga on the roof, one Ayurvedic therapy each day, and evenings at the aarti where the lamps go down the river.
Haridwar is not a stop on a tour
It is where the Ganga leaves the mountains and reaches the plain, and it has been a place of practice for longer than most countries have existed. Acharya Rajeev has lived and worked at Har Ki Pauri for thirty-five years. This retreat is his own city, shown from the inside - not an itinerary assembled by an agency.
Guests have come from Moscow, Berlin and London. Most arrive tired and slightly sceptical. The programme is unhurried on purpose: two practices a day, one therapy, and enough space between them to notice the difference.

The ten days
The shape of the programme. Individual days shift with the weather, the festival calendar and the group.

Up the river to Laxman Jhula and the Beatles Ashram, and the evening aarti at Parmarth Niketan, quieter and more musical than Haridwar’s.

Four days of rhythm. Sunrise practice, one therapy each day, Shirodhara, Netratarpan, Kati Basti, Takradhara, chakra balancing, yoga nidra, and an evening visit to a local family home for a meal that is not from a hotel kitchen.
